Dave Funk is the current President of the Iowa Chapter of Safari Club International and works as a consultant with Laird & Associates an Aviation Security and Operations consulting firm. Dave recently served as Co-chair of Iowa Sportsmen for McCain-Palin and has been active in conservative political circles for most of his adult life.
Known as Captain Dave by many, his aviation and airshow career spanned over thirty one years. This includes having flown over one hundred different types of airplanes and helicopters. Dave served nearly ten years as an attack helicopter pilot for the Iowa Army National Guard and most recently, as an International Captain on the Boeing 757 for Northwest Airlines. His flying career ended prematurely due to a work related neck injury.
Dave live
s on a small acreage outside of Runnells, Iowa with his wife Sheila, a counselor at the DMACC Ankeny Campus, and with two of his four children. He volunteers as a Reserve Police Officer with the Pleasant Hill Police Department.

Dave recently told of his attendance at a 9/12 meeting. He appeared to introduce himself and humbly ask for a photo-op to publicly sign his 9/12 contract for this post. The group agreed and the conversation ensued. The photo appears here on the left. David told me how impressed he was seeing fellow citizens being organized and compassionate. The group attending the meeting that night contributed over $500 to his campaign. He didn’t go to solicit donations, just to meet good people. If this is the quality of people in Iowa, then there’s great reason to hope for our nation. I’m not sure who that 9/12 group was, but I’m impressed. Gratitude is value #12, but right now it’s first on my list.
David has already appeared as a guest on the912projectshow, and is a delightful person to talk with. I hope to have his 9/12 Platform posted soon, and expect to see great things from him in the future.
