BILL’S ISSUES:

  • Restore Manufacturing

Kentucky’s manufacturing sector has lost 36,600 jobs since April 2008.  This represents almost half of all jobs lost in the Bluegrass State during the past year.  With Kentucky unemployment reaching 9.8%, prosperity is suffering. U.S. Companies pay the highest taxes in the world with…

  • Traditional Values

I am a firm believer that life starts at conception.  Since 1973 when abortion became legal (Roe vs. Wade), approximately 50 million abortions have been performed.  That is greater than 4,000 abortions per day.  Partial birth abortion is one of the most evil practices on our…

  • Strong Military

A strong military starts with support for military families and the very best medical care for veterans.  Divorce, suicide, and mental stress are the result of extended war deployments and financial struggles.  To help with financial struggles, military pay should be increased and…

  • Private Healthcare

Why are we rushing into a system of government-dominated health care when the very countries that have experienced it for so long are backing away?  High medical costs, extended waiting time for procedures, and poor preventative care are the reasons many countries with a government system…

  • Abundant Energy

When energy prices increase, our quality of life decreases.   We can’t afford to pay electrical bills, drive our cars, run our businesses, or grow farm crops.   With energy needs expected to increase by 50% by 2030, a simple and sustainable energy plan is needed for…

Brian Simpson Candidate for KY State House 46th District Signs 912 Contract

Posted by ky on under E-Z News | Be the First to Comment

Brian’s Bio Quick Facts:

Married to wife Michelle for five years

One daughter Riley three years old

Two step-daughters Kourtney age 12 and Whitney age 11

Employed by United Parcel Service for 20+ years

Lifelong Louisville Native

Why Brian is Running for the 46th District Kentucky State House Seat:

I believe that Kentuckians are disappointed in not only this past legislation session but the sessions of the past. The majority of today’s problems seem to be a snowball effect of our current leaders constantly putting off the problems and issues for latter times. THIS HAS TO STOP!! Each time we have a budget problem, the answer to our current leaders is always the same…raise taxes somehow…somewhere on the working men and women in the District and state. I say NO MORE. Our current leaders seem to enjoy taxing what I call…our citizens Personal Choice. HB 144 was a TAX on alcohol sales and an increase on the TAX rate of cigarettes. Our current Representative not only voted in favor of this TAX but sponsored this bill. It’s always easy to take the easy way out and just…pass the cost of things to the easiest people…US! I say NO MORE. What we need in Frankfort my friends is legislators who actually want to work and are willing to compromise with the other party members to solve these issues. I will gladly be willing to reach across the aisle, shake the hand of any Democrat and say the words…”you have a great plan, lets go with it”. But not this group of leaders..it’s their way or no way, there is very little compromising.

ISSUES:
Taxes

I firmly believe that the citizens not only in my district but this entire state are at their limits when dealing with the current tax burden that they carry. No longer can we continue to pass the burden down to our working men and women to correct the mistakes that our current legislatures have created. As we continue to strive in this current economic downturn, we must say NO to any additional tax increases and be responsible as leaders where each dollar is spent and if need be, make serious decisions on the programs that we have currently and in the future and how they are managed. I do not believe that our state can tax itself into prosperity..

Education

I believe that all students deserve a quality education and that education is a vital key to Kentucky’s future. Our children today face many hurdles in pursuit of their education. Safety, not only in the classroom, but on the state provided school buses, is a huge factor in how much our children are learning. One of the first bills that I will introduce will be a child-parent notification bill that notifies parents whenever any act of violence occurs in either their classroom or their bus. I believe that each parent deserves to know when their child’s education has been interrupted in this manner. I also believe that the schools that we choose to send our children to must be honored and that all steps to ensure this be followed.

Healthcare

Healthcare remains an ongoing problem each and every year in the battle to insure the uninsured. While I believe that each one of our citizens deserves proper healthcare, government run healthcare is not the answer. Government can always help, but to be the sole answer to all of our problems in this area usually leads to more problems. We need to lower out-of -pocket costs for doctor visits and put a clamp down on our legal system. High health care costs and large health insurance premium increases cripple families and businesses. We need common-sense legal reforms so that we can have affordable access to health care in this state. Far too many of our families and our seniors cannot afford health care coverage and far too many businesses are being forced to choose between giving raises or maintaining employee health plans. Something must change!!
