About

Jacob Roecker – founder of 912candidates.org

912candidates.org’s purpose is to communicate the commitment of any candidate for any office to the 9 principles and 12 values that have helped make America great. This program is not based on any party. If more than one candidate signs in any particular race then the discussion can move from values to specific questions of experience, organizational skills, and other qualifications.

How it works:

You send a three page document (downloadable here) to your representatives or potential representatives and ask them to sign.

They sign and send one copy to you, one copy to 912candidates.org. The letters will appear as PDF documents on this website and will be annotated for the geographic area of representation. For security reasons candidates signatures will NOT be published online. They will be retained on file.

Why not 912politicians.org? The word “politician” has a negative connotation in today’s language. It might be considered slander to attribute such a word with someone willing to commit themselves to these values. Until the word “politician” has earned a more trusted meaning, it will not be used on this site. Those that are willing to commit to this, are better than that. There is no such thing as a “912politician.”

All representatives are candidates for office. They may currently hold an office, but it is not theirs. It belongs to the people. No matter how many terms someone might have served, they will always be a candidate for the office they seek. They are placed there by public trust—a fragile commodity that must be earned.

Quotable Explanations (feel free to cut and paste in your blogs/newspapers):
____________________________

Tea Parties began as a way of demanding representation. According to the law, you have representation in our government. Whether you voted for them or not, they are obligated to represent you. Let’s put them under contract to represent something bigger than their agenda. Let’s tell them we’ll vote for 9/12 Candidates.

What is a 9/12 Candidate? A 9/12 Candidate is someone who’s willing to sign a “morally binding” contract to represent you and uphold the 9/12 Principles and Values. You can download the contract at 912Candidates.org. Send it in, and ask them to sign. If they wont; ask them “why?”

What’s the matter with saying “America is Good?”
What’s the matter with committing to “be a more honest person than I was yesterday?”
What’s the matter with believing “The Family is sacred?”
What’s the matter with Honesty, Reverence, Hope, Thrift, Humility, Charity, Sincerity, Moderation, Hard Work, Courage, Personal Responsibility, and Gratitude?
What’s the matter with saying that the government works for the people. It answers to them!

The site is run by a man who describes himself as a citizen, patriot, and veteran. He asks his representatives if they are “willing to raise a “title of liberty” and serve as a sentinel of [our] freedom? Or suggest that he entomb his conscience during their service?”

It’s time to take action. We deserve better representation.

912Candidates.org has created a letter for you to send your representatives. It’s available for download on their website. It takes less than 10 minutes to find your representatives address and send it in. You don’t have to abandon your party to participate. These principles are beyond parties. We need to create more than just memories today. We need to carry this effort forward.

We need 9/12 Candidates!

The tea parties are great. They will get the media’s attention in a big way, but those memories will soon fade from the public unless they are followed by a movement. I think I’ve got a part of that movement in this project.

This is beyond political parties. This isn’t about bashing an administration. This project doesn’t stand against something… It stands FOR something. This is an invitation to commitment, to the people, and their representatives.

I’ve come to the sad conclusion that unless I get involved (though I may have sweated in far-off deserts) I may not be able to give my children the country I want them to have. Fighting for what’s right isn’t easy, but you can’t buy a clean conscience. You can only earn it…

We’re still at a stage where we need to let people know what’s going on. I still have to say things like “Spread the Word.” “Email your friends.” “Write your letters!” Post about this site in a forums like Glenn Beck’s The 9/12 project or The FOX Nation, as a comment to a newspaper article, or on any internet forum. I’ll do my best to work through my list of things to do, so it’ll make it easier for me to help you do these things. We’re off to a good start.

I’m working to build upon the efforts of many citizens to encourage our government officials to make judgments based upon morals, not just agendas. To that end I have created 912candidates.org as a way to publish a “roll call” of public official willing to sign a morally binding contract to represent their constituents and uphold the 9 principle and 12 values that have helped make America a great nation.

______________________________

My name is Jacob Roecker, and my Senator is Chris Dodd. For some time now I have written his office, and he has ignored my constituency. Like many others, “I’m tired” is a good description of my feelings. When Glenn Beck announced his 9 principles and 12 values I cheered. We finally had a package for the values that have made our country great. Since they’re packaged so nicely it makes it easier to discuss. I believe it’s time to get back to those values.

My uniform obligations will keep me from attending the demonstrations across this great nation. I really wish I could be there. Instead I’ve done something different, and I’m at the point where I could use your help.

I’ve created 912candidates.org. The website’s goal is to have a list of candidates who have signed a “morally binding” contract to represent their constituents and support the 9 principles and 12 values listed. If they sign, the contract gets published on the website. They become a “9/12 Candidate.”

I’ve created a “stock letter” that can be downloaded and sent to any representative or candidate. Page 1 explains that you want to establish a new standard in government. Page 2 is a sample contract. Page 3 is instructions on how to get the final contract submitted online.

At this point in the project publicity is key. That’s where you come in. I hope I’m not intruding on your busy life and you can spend a few minutes looking over the site. I need help spreading the word around. I’m also hoping you can put it out at your event. If you’re willing to help, let me know. I’m in the process of producing a flyer for distribution at public events.

It’s time to put our representatives under contract. They’re supposed to represent you whether you voted for them or not. It seems a good deal of them have forgotten this critical information. Will you help me remind them?
