9 Principles

  1. America Is Good…..America is more than a country, America is an idea, an idea founded upon a belief in God and the belief that we as citizens own our lives and we own our government. America is good because we are free citizens, not subjects or property of a government or ruler.
  2. I believe in God. He is the Center of my Life….God is my creator, my hope and my refuge. He is the center of my life for without Him there is no life.
  3. I must try to be a more honest person today than I was yesterday……I believe that if you are not growing then you are dieing. A true measurement of growth is to be constantly improving and being not only more open and honest with others but also being more open and honest with ones self as you continue to grow and to learn from experience.
  4. The family is sacred. My spouse and I are the ultimate authority, not the government…..Even with the best of intentions and circumstance the government could not possibly make sound decisions regarding my family. My wife and I will make decisions based upon what is right for our family and based upon our families best interest.
  5. If I break the law, I must pay the penalty. Justice is blind. No one is above the law……When this is understood a person becomes accountable for his or her actions. Without accountability there remains only excuses and exceptions to the law, which leads to lawlessness throughout the land.
  6. I have a right to life, liberty and pursuit of happiness. There is no guarantee of equal results…….As a free man I have a God given right to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. Only as a slave could I be guaranteed equal results.
  7. I work hard for what I have. I will share it with whomever I want. Government must not force me to be charitable…..Charity begins at home. I alone will decide how to share my disposable wealth if any and I alone will decide who is deserving of my charitable contributions.
  8. It is not un-American for me to disagree with authority or to share my personal opinion……..Un-American to disagree with authority or to share my personal opinion? I believe that it would be Un-American for me not to disagree with authority if I feel that those in authority are making wrong decisions that are against my best interests and the interests of my family. I have a right to share my personal opinion as do others. To silence the citizen would be Un-American.
  9. The government works for me. I do not answer to them, they answer to me…….Government of the people, for the people and by the people. I am a citizen not a subject.

12 Values

  1. Honesty…..Honesty is the best policy, it is better to be hated for being honest than to be revered for being dishonest, I believe myself to be an honest man.

  2. Reverence…..is profound respect and love. A reverent attitude toward God includes honoring Him, expressing gratitude to Him, and obeying His commandments.
  3. Hope…..My hope lies in salvation. It is my duty and honor to serve my fellow man and to offer hope and encouragement to the discouraged.

  4. Thrift…..Waste not want not. It is foolishness not to exercise thrift and look forward past this day at future needs.

  5. Humility…..Is when one has a humble opinion of himself and willingly submits himself to God and to the service of others for God’s sake.
  6. Charity……Is a personal act of kindness or love toward a stranger in providing what is needed for that person to survive and grow.

  7. Sincerity…..To be sincere, truthful and honest in ones dealings with ones self and with others.

  8. Moderation…..Moderation is a worthy goal to achieve, as our passions desire to lead us toward extremism.

  9. Hard Work…..Is good therapy and the mark of a strong person. I have never rested better than after a day of hard work.

  10. Courage…..Courage comes in all sizes and shapes, it takes courage to stand up for what is right and it takes courage to speak out against what is wrong. A person who is strong and exercises courage will never experience the shame and discouragement that is felt by a coward.

  11. Personal Responsibility…..Personal responsibility goes hand in hand with personal accountability. In order to exercise one’s personal responsibility one must first hold themselves personally accountable for their own actions. 

  12. Gratitude…..Being grateful and expressing gratitude is a positive step toward happiness. I continue to strive in maintaining an attitude of gratitude for all of Gods blessings bestowed upon me and upon this great country, the United States of America.

Donald Strong is a 10 year Army veteran. He has been married to his wife Anna for 29 years. Together they have 3 daughters, Jennifer, Megan and Sarah, and one grandson. Donald has lived in Crossville for over 25 years, and is a registered respiratory therapist at Cumberland Medical Center. Donald Strong supports our troops and believes in a strong national Defense. He believes in God and this country, and promises to stand for what is in the best interest of Tennessee’s 4th District. Donald would like to see advanced and affordable healthcare for citizens and as a working professional in the healthcare industry, he recognizes and understands the importance of access to quality, affordable healthcare for all. Donald pledges to represent our senior citizens, and is against reductions in benefits for our seniors. He is convinced that we are not properly prepared for a possible bird flu pandemic and pledges to address the shortage of ventilators and respiratory therapists. Donald supports foreign aid but believes that charity begins at home. He questions sending billions of taxpayer dollars overseas in foreign aid before the needy in our own country, state and districts are served.

Donald believes in supporting economic growth and will promote new business and employment opportunities throughout the 4th congressional district. Donald is against sending our jobs overseas when jobs are needed here at home. He believes in pro-education at all levels and believes that access to a quality education is key to our children’s success and our district’s economic future.

Independence day, Happy Birthday America!

Happy Birthday America!!!

It was 233 years ago, when our Nation first became Free. After hours of deliberation, and getting a unanamous vote of YES (with one abstained), the delegates of the 13 colonies signed the Declaration of Independence, stating that these states ought to be free.  It was this document, that sparked such patriotism in this country, spreading like wild fire throughout. People stood up to fight for their freedom and overtook the British army, to win the war.  Many lives were lost, but lost for a cause, a cause to be free, for the people and future lives of America. This is something we should remember forever, this is what started this country, and what has made this country the “free nation” known to all in the world. Cherish these words, and never forget.

The unanimous Declaration of the thirteen united States of America

When in the Course of human events it becomes necessary for one people to dissolve the political bands which have connected them with another and to assume among the powers of the earth, the separate and equal station to which the Laws of Nature and of Nature’s God entitle them, a decent respect to the opinions of mankind requires that they should declare the causes which impel them to the separation.

Cap & Trade Bill..

Last Friday, the American Clean Energy and Security Act legislation (AKA Cap & Trade, Global Warming Bill) was narrowly approved in the House. The bill still must be approved by the Senate where it is still not clear if the democrats have enough votes to secure passage.

What You May Not Know About Speaker Pelosi’s National Energy Tax, More Mandates, More Regulations, and More Costs Than Ever Before

Washington, Jun 26 –

“Speaker Pelosi’s national energy tax is going to raise electricity prices, increase gasoline prices, and ship American jobs overseas to countries like China and India. This, we know. It would be a bureaucratic nightmare overseen by a confusing web of government agencies that would take and redistribute trillions of dollars from family budgets and workers payrolls. This, we also know. Even Agriculture Committee Chairman Collin Peterson (D-MN) admitted in the Washington Post this morning that: “The truth is, nobody knows for sure how this is going to work.” How encouraging. But what don’t we know? Here are some facts you may not know about Speaker Pelosi’s national energy tax:

  • Homebuyers Beware. Trying to save up for a new home? You may have to save up a little longer for your purchase. The Democrats’ bill would dramatically increase new home costs by mandating California’s expensive new building codes for the entire nation. Immediately upon enactment, the Democrats’ bill would demand a 30 percent increase in energy efficiency for new construction. A couple of years later, the Democrats’ bill would require an additional 50 percent improvement. These numbers were chosen with no concern for cost to consumers or feasibility in implementation.
  • Homebuilders Beware. The Democrats’ bill imposes new mandatory regulations and civil penalties for homebuilders. If your state refuses to accept the stringent and costly California building codes, the federal government may assess penalties. And don’t get too comfortable with the new mandatory regulations because the Democrats’ bill allows for “consensus-based” codes to supplant those outlined in the bill. So, as soon as you’ve invested your hard-earned money to comply with the bill’s mandates, the rug could get pulled from underneath you. Translation? You’ll pony up more and more money.
  • Home Sellers Beware. Having a hard time selling your home? Here’s one more hurdle to jump: all homes sales are conditioned upon an energy audit and a new energy rating assessment and energy labeling program for your home that’s outlined in the Democrats’ bill. And if you thought you could improve your property with a fresh coat of paint and some granite counters? Think again! Now your home will be subjected to a new energy rating assessment and energy labeling program that will penalize you for older windows, original fixtures, and dated appliances. So the Democrats’ bill would bring down the value of your home!
  • New Lights No Matter the Cost. As early as 2012, the Democrats’ bill eliminates all existing lighting technology used in many outdoor lighting fleets (parking lots, stadiums, secured facilities like power plants and factories). Just as an example, switching to the mandated technology in the bill will cost one small utility about $30 million in annual revenue. So you now have to comply with the new mandates for new lighting? Hold the phone. It is not clear that a feasible alternative technology is available for every existing lighting application – regardless of cost – which could force some businesses to close.

The consequences of Speaker Pelosi’s national energy tax for families and small businesses are real. It will drive up energy costs, send millions of jobs to countries like China and India, and place an especially heavy burden on rural America. There is a better way. House Republicans have proposed the American Energy Act, legislation that represents the fastest route to a cleaner environment, lower energy costs, and more American jobs. The legislation would:

  • Increase environmentally-safe energy production on remote lands and far off our shores;
  • Promote the use of alternative fuels that will reduce carbon emissions, such as nuclear, clean-coal, and renewable energy technologies; and
  • Encourage increased efficiencies and cutting edge technologies to maximize America’s energy potential.

Fridays vote on Speaker Pelosi’s ill-advised national energy tax will have consequences for every American. It is a bad deal for America. And the American people will remember how their Members of Congress vote.”

Obviously, this bulletin was written prior to the final vote but maybe it will be the incentive to have each and every one of us phoning, e-mailing, or faxing our senators to put enough pressure on them to stop this monstrosity before it is also passed in the Senate.

Another Great Letter!

This letter is addressed to the nation… and was sent to Glenn Beck.. I thought I would share, because I think we are all feeling this way!!!

GLENN: I got a letter from a woman in Arizona. She writes an open letter to our nation’s leadership: I’m a home grown American citizen, 53, registered Democrat all my life. Before the last presidential election I registered as a Republican because I no longer felt the Democratic Party represents my views or works to pursue issues important to me. Now I no longer feel the Republican Party represents my views or works to pursue issues important to me. The fact is I no longer feel any political party or representative in Washington represents my views or works to pursue the issues important to me. There must be someone. Please tell me who you are. Please stand up and tell me that you are there and that you’re willing to fight for our Constitution as it was written. Please stand up now. You might ask yourself what my views and issues are that I would horribly feel so disenfranchised by both major political parties. What kind of nut job am I? Will you please tell me?

 

Well, these are briefly my views and issues for which I seek representation:

One, illegal immigration. I want you to stop coddling illegal immigrants and secure our borders. Close the underground tunnels. Stop the violence and the trafficking in drugs and people. No amnesty, not again. Been there, done that, no resolution. P.S., I’m not a racist. This isn’t to be confused with legal immigration.

Two, the TARP bill, I want it repealed and I want no further funding supplied to it. We told you no, but you did it anyway. I want the remaining unfunded 95% repealed. Freeze, repeal.

Three: Czars, I want the circumvention of our checks and balances stopped immediately. Fire the czars. No more czars. Government officials answer to the process, not to the president. Stop trampling on our Constitution and honor it.

Four, cap and trade. The debate on global warming is not over. There is more to say.

Five, universal healthcare. I will not be rushed into another expensive decision. Don’t you dare try to pass this in the middle of the night and then go on break. Slow down!

Six, growing government control. I want states rights and sovereignty fully restored. I want less government in my life, not more. Shrink it down. Mind your own business. You have enough to take care of with your real obligations. Why don’t you start there.

Seven, ACORN. I do not want ACORN and its affiliates in charge of our 2010 census. I want them investigated. I also do not want mandatory escrow fees contributed to them every time on every real estate deal that closes. Stop the funding to ACORN and its affiliates pending impartial audits and investigations. I do not trust them with taking the census over with our taxpayer money. I don’t trust them with our taxpayer money. Face up to the allegations against them and get it resolved before taxpayers get any more involved with them. If it walks like a duck and talks like a duck, hello. Stop protecting your political buddies. You work for us, the people. Investigate.

Eight, redistribution of wealth. No, no, no. I work for my money. It is mine. I have always worked for people with more money than I have because they gave me jobs. That is the only redistribution of wealth that I will support. I never got a job from a poor person. Why do you want me to hate my employers? Why ‑‑ what do you have against shareholders making a profit?

Nine, charitable contributions. Although I never got a job from a poor person, I have helped many in need. Charity belongs in our local communities, where we know our needs best and can use our local talent and our local resources. Butt out, please. We want to do it ourselves.

Ten, corporate bailouts. Knock it off. Sink or swim like the rest of us. If there are hard times ahead, we’ll be better off just getting into it and letting the strong survive. Quick and painful. Have you ever ripped off a Band‑Aid? We will pull together. Great things happen in America under great hardship. Give us the chance to innovate. We cannot disappoint you more than you have disappointed us.

Eleven, transparency and accountability. How about it? No, really, how about it? Let’s have it. Let’s say we give the buzzwords a rest and have some straight honest talk. Please try ‑‑ please stop manipulating and trying to appease me with clever wording. I am not the idiot you obviously take me for. Stop sneaking around and meeting in back rooms making deals with your friends. It will only be a prelude to your criminal investigation. Stop hiding things from me.

Twelve, unprecedented quick spending. Stop it now.

Take a breath. Listen to the people. Let’s just slow down and get some input from some nonpoliticians on the subject. Stop making everything an emergency. Stop speed reading our bills into law. I am not an activist. I am not a community organizer. Nor am I a terrorist, a militant or a violent person. I am a parent and a grandparent. I work. I’m busy. I’m busy. I am busy, and I am tired. I thought we elected competent people to take care of the business of government so that we could work, raise our families, pay our bills, have a little recreation, complain about taxes, endure our hardships, pursue our personal goals, cut our lawn, wash our cars on the weekends and be responsible contributing members of society and teach our children to be the same all while living in the home of the free and land of the brave.

I entrusted you with upholding the Constitution. I believed in the checks and balances to keep from getting far off course. What happened? You are very far off course. Do you really think I find humor in the hiring of a speed reader to unintelligently ramble all through a bill that you signed into law without knowing what it contained? I do not. It is a mockery of the responsibility I have entrusted to you. It is a slap in the face. I am not laughing at your arrogance. Why is it that I feel as if you would not trust me to make a single decision about my own life and how I would live it but you should expect that I should trust you with the debt that you have laid on all of us and our children. We did not want the TARP bill. We said no. We would repeal it if we could. I am sure that we still cannot. There is such urgency and recklessness in all of the recent spending.

From my perspective, it seems that all of you have gone insane. I also know that I am far from alone in these feelings. Do you honestly feel that your current pursuits have merit to patriotic Americans? We want it to stop. We want to put the brakes on everything that is being rushed by us and forced upon us. We want our voice back. You have forced us to put our lives on hold to straighten out the mess that you are making. We will have to give up our vacations, our time spent with our children, any relaxation time we may have had and money we cannot afford to spend on you to bring our concerns to Washington. Our president often knows all the right buzzword is unsustainable. Well, no kidding. How many tens of thousands of dollars did the focus group cost to come up with that word? We don’t want your overpriced words. Stop treating us like we’re morons.

We want all of you to stop focusing on your reelection and do the job we want done, not the job you want done or the job your party wants done. You work for us and at this rate I guarantee you not for long because we are coming. We will be heard and we will be represented. You think we’re so busy with our lives that we will never come for you? We are the formerly silent majority, all of us who quietly work , pay taxes, obey the law, vote, save money, keep our noses to the grindstone and we are now looking up at you. You have awakened us, the patriotic spirit so strong and so powerful that it had been sleeping too long. You have pushed us too far. Our numbers are great. They may surprise you. For every one of us who will be there, there will be hundreds more that could not come. Unlike you, we have their trust. We will represent them honestly, rest assured. They will be at the polls on voting day to usher you out of office. We have cancelled vacations. We will use our last few dollars saved. We will find the representation among us and a grassroots campaign will flourish. We didn’t ask for this fight. But the gloves are coming off. We do not come in violence, but we are angry. You will represent us or you will be replaced with someone who will. There are candidates among us when hewill rise like a Phoenix from the ashes that you have made of our constitution.

Democrat, Republican, independent, libertarian. Understand this. We don’t care. Political parties are meaningless to us. Patriotic Americans are willing to do right by us and our Constitution and that is all that matters to us now. We are going to fire all of you who abuse power and seek more. It is not your power. It is ours and we want it back. We entrusted you with it and you abused it. You are dishonorable. You are dishonest. As Americans we are ashamed of you. You have brought shame to us. If you are not representing the wants and needs of your constituency loudly and consistently, in spite of the objections of your party, you will be fired. Did you hear? We no longer care about your political parties. You need to be loyal to us, not to them. Because we will get you fired and they will not save you. Mayor Bill Haslam for Governor

Knoxville Mayor Bill Haslam is running for Governor in the state of TN for the 2010 election. He is married to Carrie, and father of 3 children, and is an elder at their local church. bill-haslam

Bill joined the family business after graduating from college with a degree in History. During his time working for Pilot, he helped grow the company from 800 employees to 14,000 employees. Over the course of his time working with Pilot, he became President and Director. He made good business decisions, which can be shown with the tremendous growth in the company. Being the president of a company requires big decisions to be made. He was successful at this, so he should be successful at Governor don’t you think?

His political career started when he decided he wanted to do more, and to make a difference in his home town. He ran for mayor in 2003, with great success.. He used the great skills in making good business decisions, to help as Mayor. He turned Knoxville around, lowering taxes, balancing of 6 consecutive budgets, propelling Knoxville to almost having the lowest property tax rates in almost 40 years. He created the Veterans Memorial in Knoxville’s “World Fair Park“. As Mayor, his biggest projects have been educations and economic development. He helped get the “Jobs Now” campaign, which has earned Knoxville as a top 10 area for Business & expansion, in Forbes magazine.

Bill has done a lot for the city of Knoxville, and the people there are a great example as they reelected him in 2007 with over 87% of the votes! 

Bill is ready to use his skills in the private sector, and those he gained in the Mayors seat, and lead Tennessee to a better state.

Shelby County District Attorney for Governor

District Attorney Bill Gibbons is running for Governor of TN, in the 2010 election. He is married to Julia Floyd Smith, and together, they have two children. Bill’s life was anything but easy. This seems to be a common ground with people that share our values! We had to work hard for what we wanted in life, and didn’t expect it to be handed to us! Well Bill is a prime example of this hard work and determination.bill-gibbons

His political career started when he was just a boy, and working for a man who had bought his families farm in Arkansas, Mr. Humphreys. Mr. Humphreys was active in the Republican reform movement in Arkansas, and with him daily, inspired Bill to become involved in the political arena.

In high school, he was recruited to work on Howard Bakers campaign for U.S Senate,he started and chaired, the Shelby county Teen-Age Republicans group.  In 1970,  he worked the campaign for Winfield Dunn for governor, and also held staff positions for Howard Bakers re-election campaign in 1972.  He also was county coordinator for Lamar Alexander’s campaign for governor in 1974, where he and his wife served on his staff until 1981. From there, he was elected to City council of Memphis in 1983, and further to Shelby County Board of Commissioners in 1994.

In 1996, Bill was appointed by Governor Sundquist, to be attorney general for Shelby County. In a known “blue” county, he was elected in a landslide win, of 62%.. WOW… That says something there.. People in Shelby county knew who they were electing!!

From his childhood thru County District Attorney, Bill has gained the skills needed to represent the great people of TN. This is the kind of person we need in office, locally and federally!! I have sent a request for Mr. Gibbons to sign on to our campaign for Freedom, and liberty.
