Fellow Tea Party Patriots:

We head into October with a string of impressive accomplishments under our belt.

The passion of the American people has the socialists back on their heels, and it is no exaggeration to say that YOU have been leading the charge against their plans.

Despite humble beginnings a few short months ago, we the people have united together across this great nation into a FORCE TO BE RECKONED WITH.

Over the August recess, the people were out in the streets and inside the town halls, letting our elected servants know, in no uncertain terms, that WE ARE WATCHING VIGILANTLY and that we will not be BULLIED into SOCIALISM.

The people have been taking it to ACORN and the labor unions.  We’ve been standing up for free speech and against the Administration’s plans to bypass parental authority and establish direct lines of communication to our children.

This past weekend, the people marched on Washington with a force over ONE MILLION STRONG–with TEXANS leading the charge.

We’ve been doing great things, but we still have much work to do.

In the words of Winston Churchill, “this is not the end. It is not even the beginning of the end. But it is, perhaps, the end of the beginning.”

I write to encourage each of you to continue the great things you’ve been doing and to emphasize the critical importance of building your local neighborhood group.  We have the momentum now.  We absolutely MUST keep that momentum going.  We must BUILD now if we are to BE PREPARED later.

If you don’t have a Local Neighborhood group in your area, START ONE.

If your Local Neighborhood group has gone dormant over the recess, it’s time to GET IT REVVED BACK UP.

If your Local Neighborhood group is active, but you haven’t organized Precinct Committees yet, it’s time to start planning that.  I know I may sound like a broken record, but when it comes to politics, PRECINCTS are where the rubber meets the road.  Precincts are the COGS of the political MACHINE, the CELLS of the body POLITIC.  To control the machine, you MUST control the COGS.

If you need assistance or support of any type whatsoever in any of the above, please let us know.

If you are willing to support other groups in any capacity whatsoever, please let us know.

WE are here to do whatever we can to help you take back your neighborhood, and in the process, to take back your country.  It’s up to YOU to let us know what you need in order to get that done.  Don’t be shy.  Together, we’ll make it happen.

Now, let’s go get ‘em!

“Something wicked this way comes…” ~ Macbeth

Skip to the petition form »

The Obama Team and the Democrat National Committee have Texas in their sights. They chose to have their annual meeting in Texas’ capital city on September 10th, 11th, and 12th because they think they can turn Texas BLUE in the next election. They want to bring their failed Washington policies to a bedrock Republican state that is still thriving despite Democrat attempts to run our great country into the ground.

This got us thinking…

What sort of reception should we give our friends from the other side of the aisle? How about a TEXAS-style SEND OFF with a statewide petition effort and rally in Austin on Saturday, September 12th telling the Democrats to go home and keep their HANDS OFF TEXAS!

Let us be clear: The Democrats know that the only battle they have a shot at winning in Texas is to overtake our slim one-vote Republican majority in the Texas House of Representatives. And there’s a reason they care about the Texas Legislature. Apart from forging a Democrat stronghold in a historically conservative state, they want control of the upcoming redistricting process since Texas is poised to gain up to four additional seats in Congress—four potential Democrat reinforcements for Nancy Pelosi, Harry Reid and President Obama.

Texas Republicans have not faced a threat like this in over a decade. This is a call to action to all conservative Texans because we are now on the front line in the battle for our country’s future. So goes Texas, so goes the nation.

If you’re sick and tired of all the “change” we’re getting from the Democrat majority in Washington, D.C. and feel like there’s nothing you can do about it, this is your fight. We must draw a line in the sand and with a loud voice tell the Obama Team and national Democrats to keep their HANDS OFF TEXAS!

A downloadable version of the petition is also available.

Chuck Norris – Dirty Secret #3 in HR3200 – Health Care Bill

Posted by tx on September 4, 2009 under Healthcare, Home Page, Texas patriots | Be the First to Comment

(From Townhall comes an essay by one of my favorite Texans, Chuck Norris. The entire essay is reprinted here.)

Ever heard the saying “absence of evidence is not evidence of absence”? That’s true for any of the 1,000-plus-page versions of “Government-run healthcare“.

I’ve informed you in previous columns of two dirty secrets in Government-run healthcare . Dirty secret No. 3 is the sin of omission. It’s what the health care bill doesn’t say that will bite you in the end.

In 1,000-plus pages, there’s surprisingly sparse coverage or complete avoidance of a host of necessary issues. I would cite pages in the bill, as I’ve done in my other articles, but there aren’t any covering them. These are questions that need specific answers by the  administration, as well as by each of our representatives:

–What would the child development methods and values used in training parents during home visitations be? –To whom or what would the national committee that would oversee the entire health care system be accountable?

–What would the extents of power and limitations or boundaries of the national committee be?

–Would the national and regional health care committees eventually run with the power of the Federal Reserve System, as Dr. Ezekiel Emanuel, the health care adviser to the Obama administration, proposes in his book “Healthcare, Guaranteed”?

–Would Medicare be “phased out,” as Emanuel proposes in his book?

–Would Medicaid be “phased out,” as Emanuel proposes in his book?

–Would employee-provided health insurance eventually cease, as Emanuel proposes in his book?

–Specifically, how would the nation provide and pay for the additional medical and administrative personnel needed to cover roughly 50 million more people?

–Specifically, how would the nation provide and pay for the additional medical facilities and equipment needed to equip the new medical and administrative personnel?

–What are the specific cost projections for such extensive and extra medical personnel, practices, offices and equipment?

–What about the maldistribution of physicians?

–What about tort reform?

–What about class action suits?

–Would illegal immigrants be covered under this program?

–What about the specifics of abortion services? Would taxpayer funds finance them?

–What types and limitations of end-of-life counsel would be offered?

–Any guarantees that the middle class wouldn’t be paying for Obamacare eventually?

–Have you investigated or read any other options for or alternatives to health care reform besides the most recent version of Obamacare? If not, why? If so, what are the pros and cons of each?

–Most importantly, will you write or sign amendments that guarantee the restrictions or explanations of the above points into law before passing any form of Government-run healthcare?

Now read that list more slowly one more time, and ask yourself this: Is it a complete coincidence that all those specifics aren’t mentioned already in Government-run healthcare legislation? Do you want your representative to sign off on a bill that doesn’t specify them? (Would you sign a contract to buy a car that didn’t discuss financing or even the specifics of the car you were buying?)

Isn’t this just the same ol’ doubletalk and dirty politics we’ve seen in Washington? Whatever happened to the President’s campaign promises about the “most sweeping ethics reform” and “unprecedented transparency”? Why doesn’t Washington start telling us the whole truth and nothing but the truth so help them God?

Candidate Obama promised that the middle class would not pay for the program, yet the proposed Government-run healthcare legislation would shift progressive onus (beginning on Page 846) for aspects of ongoing health care onto state and local communities — which, in turn, would pay for those services how? It doesn’t say. And if a state were not to meet the criteria to be eligible for federal reimbursement, do we assume the federal government would write it all off, or would we the taxpayers foot that bill, too? It doesn’t say. Generalities such as “the State share of the cost” (Page 847) should cause your pocketbook to tremble.

So here’s what the specific implementation plan of Government-run healthcare comes down to: “Trust government.” A friend of mine who is a California Highway Patrol officer says, “In God we trust; all others we search.” And that includes government.

Before so-called universal health care turns into universal hell care, write or call your representative today and protest his rushing to vote Government-run healthcare into law. Remind him that what is needed in Washington is a truly bipartisan group that is allowed an ample amount of time to work on a compromise health care law that would rein in out-of-control insurance companies and wouldn’t raise taxes (for anyone), regulate personal medical choices, ration health care or restrict American citizens’ freedoms in any way.

Watch your back, America! As the adage goes, absence of evidence is not evidence of absence.

Tyler Russell – Texas 8th District

Posted by tx on August 31, 2009 under Home Page, Tea Party Protests, Texas candidates, Texas patriots | Be the First to Comment

tylerrussellspeakingatteaparty copy Officially the first 9/12 Candidate in the great state of Texas!

When asked why he became the first 9/12 candidate in Texas, Tyler said,

“The 9 principles and 12 values outlined by all of the 9/12 groups have always been at the heart of my core beliefs.  I am proud to be the first candidate in Texas who signed the contract.  The United States needs leaders who will make decisions based on these principles that reflect the ideals of the American people.  The values for which 9/12 organizations stand need a strong voice on Capitol Hill.  I plan to help restore our Republic by being a principled leader guided by these values.”

Tyler Russell represents the new leadership of the Republican Party. A Reagan conservative, Tyler is a strong advocate for liberty and freedom based on Constitutional limited government. He is determined to work within Congress to ensure a reduction of the national debt and low taxes through the pursuit of sound fiscal policy. Tyler firmly supports the achievement of economic growth through a strong and a vibrant private sector.

On the Issues

Tyler’s position on public policy issues facing our nation reflects his deep belief in limited government and the restoration of States’ rights after decades of power-grabbing by Washington. His views are grounded in solid conservative values ranging from his strong support of pro-life policies and Second Amendment rights, to the support for low taxes and market-driven economic growth.

As your Congressman, Tyler will… flagwithclouds-tylerrussell

= Fight for the reduction of the national debt and promotion of fiscal responsibility – no bailouts, no stimulus.
= Pursue a strong, uncompromising national security and the achievement of energy independence.
= Ensure our borders are finally secured and illegal immigration is eliminated.
= Ensure the best care and services is always delivered to our veterans.

Invitation to Health Care Town Hall – State Capitol

Posted by tx on August 18, 2009 under Home Page, Tea Party Protests, Texas patriots | Be the First to Comment

You are hereby invited to a Health Care Town Hall that the Austin Tea Party Patriots are hosting in the auditorium of the State Capitol on August 22 from  12:00 p.m. – 2:00 p.m.  There is limited seating in the Auditorium. If you RSVP to the event, a ticket will be held in your name at the door and guarantee your seat.

Headed by Dr. Clare L. Gray of the non-profit organization Physicians for Reform [http://www.physiciansforreform.org/index.php?id=6], the Town Hall will focus on “Finding a New Way Forward” – a program for health care reform that focuses on maintaining the physician-patient relationship within a structure that benefits all Americans.

The Town Hall meeting will be a great opportunity for Central Texans to hear constructive alternatives to currently proposed national healthcare legislation that give decision making authority to people rather than to the government.  There will be information about how these alternative proposals allow inclusion of the chronically uninsured and how health care can be made more cost affordable to everyone.

We at the Austin Tea Party Patriots are stressing to all attendees that this Town Hall is a time to leave our “for” and “against” signs at home and to focus on learning about real alternatives.  There will be an extended opportunity for attendees to ask questions of Dr. Gray.  We are inviting Congressmen from the area to the attend.

Please reply by email if you plan to attend to reserve your seat.

Very truly yours,

Greg Holloway

Mt. Pleasant Texas Tea Party group needs suggestions

Posted by tx on August 14, 2009 under Home Page, Tea Party Protests, Texas patriots | Be the First to Comment

Eric Bruechner, Mt. Pleasant TX Tea Party Patriots would like your opinion on a campaign against AARP. Please send your comments and ideas. Thank you.

Here is what Eric has to say:

We struck a nerve locally at our Health Care Forum Aug 7 when we brought up AARP’s support of Obama Care. We are about to buy local ads encouraging seniors to call and drop AARP. I believe AARP will find it extremely financially difficult to endorse any form of Obama care if enough of their members or future members(>50) voice their opposition.
Now ,I wonder if Tea Party Patriots could organize a national campaign to do the same, quickly. Since they are trying to vote in mid Sept, it would have to be timely. I understand that ads would be more expensive in larger cities. It costs us about 430.00$ for 2 days of 1/4 page locally. It seems that larger cities could raise more money. We raised and spent 1500.00$ on our forum without much trouble.
I think when people realize that they, individually, CAN have an impact on this situation, they become VERY motivated. I think the Tea Party groups could mobilize this group of patriots. They just need to be shown the way.
Sincerely,
Eric Bruechner
Mt. Pleasant TX Tea Party Patriots

and, here is the newspaper article regarding same:

Story:
Healthcare forum packs them in

The mood ranged from skeptical to indignant, cautious to concerned, from fearful to angry Friday night across a solemn crowd of 500 to 600 folks gathered in the Civic Center for a Town Hall Forum on government-run healthcare.

The consensus conveyed across the mostly salt-and-pepper-to-silver demographic reverberated across the massive room in resounding opposition to the proposed universal healthcare plan currently being considered in Congress.
